CSA was founded in April 2003, through an initiative of Cape Verdean and Portuguese private shipping groups.

In June of the same year, it began operating as a Shipping Agent, providing services to the Portuguese regular line carrier Transinsular – Transportes Marítimos Insulares, S.A., part of the Grupo ETE.

It has also provided services to several other shipping companies: CSLine, Navecor, oil tankers, cruise ships, MSC, Boluda, Orey, Vieira & Silveira, ISS, and Navex.

In 2005, Agemar – Navegação e Trânsito, Lda. took over control of CSA, which has since become a national reference in the ship agency sector.
